Abstract

The article seeks to carry out an analysis regarding the interventionist engineers of the Brazilian State during the cycles in which they were directly influenced by the developmentalist ideology, which is understood between the years 1950-1960 and 2007-2010. In the wake of the analyses, the consequences of this process of recurrent intervention by the state apparatus on the conjunctural framework of social struggles for land in the rural Sertão are also problematized. This is an eminently bibliographical research, since it instrumentalizes the theoretical productions and foundations for the reading and interpretation of reality, especially appearances that appear as classics of Brazilian social thought. On the other hand, research also accesses statistical information and data published by official sources to substantiate the considerations they develop. The particularities of the economic and social formation of the sertaneja region, the social relations of production and power that are characteristic of them are problematized, to then make considerations about the meaning of the developmentalist policy in the face of the agrarian conflicts in the periods in question. In summary, it is possible to state that this policy appeared, to a certain extent, in a product aimed at appeasing social struggles.
